Our Black Friday loots from last year.
We were at the Round Rock Premium Outlets last Sunday and at one time while we were there, my thoughts drifted to our first ever Black Friday experience last year. Hubby’s birthday fell on Thanksgiving Day and we had dinner at our house with our friends and their kids. We all planned on going to the outlet mall together so it will be more fun. We wanted to take advantage of the huge discounts and get a head start on our Christmas shopping. The temperature that night was in the low 30s and it was freezing cold outside. But we refused to allow anything to stop us from shopping! When we got to the mall, that’s when our nightmare started. Hahaha. It was only 11pm (stores were scheduled to open exactly at midnight) and yet, lines were already formed outside the more popular shops. And when one was lucky enough to get into a store, the unbelievably long check-out lines will have to be endured next. Ugh. We only managed to buy from one store that night. All the rest were bought in the afternoon of Friday at the San Marcos Premium Outlets.
And then just now, I found out that there’s an on-line store called Black Friday which allows people to buy Black Friday items from a number of stores on-line, thus eliminating the need to camp out outside the stores! Ugh!
Why oh why didn’t anybody tell me about this? The stores at the BF website include Macy’s, Old Navy, Best Buy, Circuit City, Toy R Us, Babies R Us, Tommy Hilfiger, Target, Office Max, Walmart and a whole lot more! One can even subscribe for email alert when new bfads (Black Friday ads) have been posted.
This year, I’ll know better. I will just shop from the comforts of my home.
Em tagged me for this meme. I had no idea what it was all about. My hunch was I’ll probably asked about famous Philippine cities and landmarks. So I went on to click the link and I admit, i was quite confident I’ll do well in the quiz. Well, I thought wrong. I got a miserable C-! If I were back in school, a grade like this would have made me cry. Hahaha! Would you like to see how well you’ll do? Feel free to snag this tag, then!
My Lakbayan grade is C-!
How much of the Philippines have you visited? Find out at Lakbayan!

Everyone seems to be raffling off an Ipod Nano these days. One of them is Development Dimensions International (DDI). All one has to do is fill-out a brief on-line survey, “The Quest for Health Care Excellence” survey. The target respondents for this survey are Human Resources (HR) executives working in hospitals and health care delivery systems. All it will take is ten minutes and all information will be kept confidential. DDI will be beginning its annual business planning and through this survey, they wish to find out the ideas and opinions of health care executives so DDI can effectively focus on their (health care executives) needs. If you are the person they’re looking for and you wish to be included in the drawing of the Ipod Nano, you will have to provide your name, organization and email. To take the survey, click here. The survey will close on Sunday, the 22nd of June and the drawing will be held the very next day, Monday, the 23rd of June.
Mabuhay! “Ihip ng Hangin” ang tema ng Litratong Pinoy para sa araw na ito. Mabuti na lamang at hindi ko na kailangang lumayo para kumuha ng litrato.
Hindi biro ang init dito sa Texas. Huwag niyong akalaing ako’y nagrereklamo. Tubong Pinas yata ito at sanay sa mainit na panahon!
Ngunit mabuti na rin ang mayroong nakaalalay para maibsan ang matinding init….ang aking mini-bintilador. ;)
(Mabuhay, this week’s Litratong Pinoy theme is “Wind / Wind Blow”. I’m quite relieved I didn’t really have to go anywhere to take a picture
Texas heat is no joke. But don’t think I’m complaining. I grew up in the Philippines and I’m used to sticky hot weather!
However, it’s always good to have something handy to lessen the heat…my mini-fan.)

May isa pa akong lahok DITO. (I have another entry HERE.)

It would be a shame to keep this entry wordless. These pics were taken when hubby and I went to Bangkok the second time for a second honeymoon in December 2003.
The description before each pic was lifted from Bangkok Sawadee.com.
Wat Indravihan
Located in the Bang Khun Phrom area on Wisutkasat Road, this temple is well known for a huge standing Buddha image called Luang Pho To. The image, built in the reign of King Rama IV, is 32 meters tall and 10 meters wide. The topknot of the Buddha image contains a relic of Lord Buddha brought from Sri Lanka.

Wat Pho
This large and extensive temple neighbours the Grand Palace enclave on Thai Wang Road and contains a gigantic gold plated Reclining Buddha some 46 meters long and 15 meters high with inlaid mother of pearl soles. The temple is also regarded as the first center of public education and is sometimes called Thailand’s first university.
