I’ve got a ton of memorable family vacations tucked safely in my heart and in my mind. Growing up, my mom and dad made sure we went on vacation every summer and practically every time the chance presented itself. Even after my dad passed away, we continued to enjoy precious family time through countless vacations. The fun didn’t stop after my brother and I got married and had our own families. In fact, vacations just got all the more fun and memorable, whenever all 10 of us (my mom, my brother’s family of six and my family of three) went on one of our getaways.
Both my brother and I made a promise to ourselves that as much as we can, we’ll enjoy precious family time with our respective families, the best way we know how. At least as much as we did with our mom and dad when we were kids. That’s quite a benchmark, I tell you.
While my idea of a fantabulous vacation has everything to do with Europe (so sue me!), I have to admit that I’d like to see as much of the US as we possibly can. We’re here already anyway! The possibilities are endless really. In the East Coast, we can go on a Washington dc sightseeing tour, fall in love with New York, possibly see Oprah in Chicago, and be wildly crazy with Disney in Orlando! And since my good friend moved to Atlanta a couple of days ago, I’ve been looking at possible things to do in Atlanta should we get the chance to visit them. There’s just as many possibilities in the West Coast, too, which reminds me, we’re off to California next week. Yey!
If you’re intent on mapping memorable US vacations with your family, too, you can start planning by checking out the “online travel guides” of Trusted Tours and Attractions. And while there, sign-up for the newsletter for a chance to win a GPS. It will sure come in handy when you’re touring the different states. ![]()
My daughter is finally on summer break. Yes, a good month and a half later than the rest of America and I won’t even attempt to explain why it’s like that in her school. :D To kick off what we intend to be a fun school break for Abby, we spent two consecutive early evenings, which were still bright as day in this part of the world anyway, at the community pool. And did she have a blast! She is so much more comfortable, not to mention confident, in the water that formal swimming lessons will definitely be in order. I’ll wait after she turns 4 though, which is just a couple of weeks away. I read in the July issue of Parents magazine that the magic age for swimming lessons is 4. I can’t tell you how after reading that, all the guilt I was feeling for not signing Abby up for swimming lessons this summer just evaporated into thin air. Pfft!
Here are the snapshots…

On Friday, Abby and I made banana choco chip muffins, my other WS entry. You can visit other WS participants here.
I wish you all a great new week ahead!

Isa pang lahok para sa LP DITO.
Last Saturday, we attended Abby’s school carnival in the morning, and her dance recital in the afternoon. One might think that would tire us. But no, we still found the time to go to our community’s main park. The sun was still out so there’s no reason to stay indoors. Hee hee.
Abby went swingin’…

…climbin’…

…crawlin’…

…slidin’…

…and climbin’ some more.

Too bad it rained. Abby had to be scooped up and was giggling in her Dad’s arms as we made a dash for the car.
Hungry for an Asian buffet? Come take a look at my other Wordless Wednesday entry. More WW participants here.

I took this picture of Abby’s classmates at last Saturday’s dance recital with my hidden spy camera
. Kidding. Hee hee. I used my usual photo taking apparatus, of course. :D I was seated right behind them and they all just looked adorable waiting to go up the stage again. There was a short break after the ballet portion. At this point, the stage was being readied for the tap portion of the recital. All the girls looked lovely in their shiny pink leotards, frilly tutu and their princess crowns. I am already looking forward to next year’s. ![]()
