This is Santa Monica Beach.  We were there two weeks ago.  :)   Coming from Austin where we are surrounded by, well, grass, we welcomed the beautiful view of the beach with open arms.  Hee hee. Not too far from the shore, there’s a stretch of nice houses.  I bet thoses houses are worth gazillions of dollars, specially since it’s almost Malibu already.  I won’t mind having a vacation house by the beach.  I guess it’s the Cancerian in me.  It doesn’t have to be in Malibu.  I’ll gladly take one that’s on the Outer Banks.  Hush.  It’s free to dream! :)

It was in July 2006 when our family was blessed to have been given the chance for a short vacation in Ilolo and also visit the beautiful island of Guimaras.  Not too long after our visit to the island, an oil spill left its waters unsuitable for swimming.

Heto si Abby, nagaabang ng alon… (Here’s Abby, waiting for the waves…)

Ayan na!  Ay, natakot yata!…  :D   (Here it comes!  Oops, she got scared!)

Sinong may sabing kailangan ng mamahaling laruan  na pang-beach?  Bote lang mineral water, ok na! (Who said one needs expensive toys for the beach when an empty water bottle will do the trick?)

Tawa pa lang ni Abby, sulit na ang biyahe! ;)   (Abby had a lot of fun making the trip well worth it!)

Tayo na sa Ternate Cavite, ang isa ko pang lahok. (I have another entry HERE).

Alzheimer’s is probably in everyone’s list of most feared diseases.  I have seen first hand how it cripples not only the mind, but the whole being of a person.  Hubby’s late maternal grandma had it.  And it’s hearbreaking to see her, one who was full of life and gifted with a truly beautiful mind fight the battle against Alzheimer’s.

I hope that a cure is found in my lifetime.  And I’m sure many other share the same hope with me.  While we’re hoping, we might as well do something worthwhile and join the Alzheimer’s Memory Walk, the nation’s largest event to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer care, support and research.

The Alzheimer’s Association is in need of volunteers of all ages who want to fight against and see the end of Alzheimer’s.  The event will take place one weekend morning this fall and with over 600 communities participating in the event, you are sure to find a community close to you.

Walk with your friends or perhaps join another group and make new friends!  Walking with and for a purpose is well worth it!

Do you have the Monday Morning Blues?

Oh yeah!!!  Don’t we all?!  Monday kinda spells reality.  That’s when everyone has to get up early and go to work.  In my case, I have to wake up early to get my daughter and the things she need for school ready.  She’s on summer break so I’ve been free of the Monday morning blues for several weeks now.  But when school starts, which is really soon…I don’t even want to think about that just yet.  Hee hee. :)

That’s my answer.

Early Friday evening, hubby, Abby and I went to The Domain, a rather high-end dining, shopping & entertainment destination here in Austin.   We love coming here, primarily for Borders and to windowshop. ;)   Coming out of the parking building onto the main street, we were greeted by beautiful live music.

I used my old P&S camera to take pics.  I would have wanted to sit on a bench and enjoy the music a bit longer.  Then again, it was just too hot, which is why I found this…

…to be quite revolting.  Whoever thought of this must have been drunk and deserved to be whacked with a  wine rack.  I just don’t get it.  We are in Texas.  And while winters here are known to be mild, the same can’t be said about the summers.  I get that the fire adds drama to this nice little spot, but…  Oh, forget it!

Anyway, this made me feel better…

Hee hee.  When we were, uhm, warm enough (do you detect the sarcasm?) we headed to Borders so we can keep cool. :D

I have another WS entry HERE.  Visit other WS participants here.

Have a wonderful week ahead!
