Abby walked a dog for the very first time last July.  It was our neighbor’s pet, the name of which escapes me right now.  Anyway,  Abby was a little afraid of it at first because it’s just about as big as she is.  But as soon as she warmed up to it, she agreed to go with our neighbor, Jeanne, and 2 other girls her age, to take the beautiful dog out for a walk.  After that walk, Abby couldn’t stop asking for a pet dog of her own.  

Unfortunately, we’re not quite ready for a pet right now,  at least, not yet.  We probably could have said yes to a fish, but a four-legged friend for Abby is just too much for all of us to handle.  Everybody knows that caring for a pet takes a lot of responsibility.  There are visits to the vet and groomer, pet food, even  pet beds to think about!  Maybe we’ll reconsider when we already have a house of our own.  Hubby has always wanted a golden retriever anyway.   We’ll see.
