These are the hands of my little chef…

When you’ve got curious, eager and busy little hands working in the kitchen, kitchen faucets are bound to get really busy. :)

But as parents, that should be the least of our concerns.  It is important to let the little ones express their creativity, and that includes food art. ;)   Yes, it’s messy, but if you psych yourself up well enough, you’ll be able to see past the mess.  Promise!

My daughter’s beautiful smile made our little kitchen ativity all the more worth it. :)

Have a great week! :)

On our trip to Dallas last weekend, we were pleasantly surprise that there are now glorious fountains on Founders Plaza, which is just across the street from the JFK Memorial.

When we here in December 2007, there was nothing on this plaza worth taking photos of.  See for yourself…

The plaza was but a fenced area with construction and industrial supplies. They were still probably building the fountains that time.

Now, the plaza just can’t be ignored.  Everyone just has to make a stop here to take photos.

The fountains look even more beautiful at night!

I’m glad we decided to hang out at the West End District in Downtown Dallas. :)

Barbie’s fashion accessories proved to be very useful for Litratong Pinoy’s fashion-oriented themes for the month of March.  The ballet flats do long comfy.  But the heeled ones are a little too high for me.  I never got the hang of wearing high-heeled shoes.  My feet are more comfortable with shoes I can run on a treadmill with.

(I wasn’t able to post an entry for LP last week.  I’ll just hit two themes with this one entry. :D )

LP #49: Blusa o Polo

He he.  Hindi pa kailangang plantsahin. :)

(This is probably not the polo many have in mind…the ones with a collar and buttons on the front.  I just found it easier to take a photo of this “Polo”.  It saved me some ironing time.)

LP #50:  Paboritong Alahas

(These are my favorite jewelry pieces, my engagement and wedding rings…)

Nangangailangan na ng matinding linis.  Hee hee. :)

(They are in dire need of cleaning and I don’t think soap and warm water running over an undermount sink will do. :D )

The American Girl dolls are a big thing here in the US.  And mind you, they do not come at a cheap price. Dolls for girls aged 3+ start at $42, while dolls for the 8+ age group start at $95.  The dolls come with a book that tells the story of each doll and which encourages little girls to grow up in a wholesome way while enjoying girlhood through enchanted fun and play.

The American Girl Boutique and Bistro in Dallas, TX

That said, I want a Filipina Girl doll for my daughter.  My daughter’s school is inviting families from other cultures (like us!) to drop by the school and share with the pre-schoolers, things about their cultures that the little ones will find interesting.  Visual aids will come in handy for the activity’s targeted audience.

Unfortunately, I do not have native toys or visual aids that I can bring to Abby’s school.  Except for Hubby’s barong tagalog (the popular costume for Filipino males), we do not have any other costumes we could bring.  So I checked out ShopWiki for some possibilities.  I want to buy whatever reasonably priced toys I could find for the school presentation and for Abby’s enjoyment  as well.

Back home, I remember seeing Barbie dolls in Filipiniana costumes.  I checked out Shop Wiki’s Collectible  Dolls Buying Guide and then proceeded to search for Filipina Barbie dolls.  I love  the search result, but the dolls are indeed collector’s items!  I almost fell off my seat when I saw the price of this Ms. Philippines Barbie…$575!  There were about two dolls priced at $100 and $189.00.  I did find a Philippine Islands Barbie that was only $30.  I will have to look some more.

I wonder if we have friends or family who are coming to the US soon.  I know of one.  Hee hee.  I’ll be requesting for Filipiniana toys for pasalubong. ;)
