July 31, 2009

It’s July 31st today and until I’ve used up all the gift cards I received, I’ll feel I’m still celebrating my birthday.  Come to think of it, every day should be a celebration!  One of the gorgeous gifts I received for my birthday is this purple beauty…

I’m not overly fond of naming things, but this gorgeous purple thing, I named Elizabeth.  It’s a beautiful name, which also happens to be the name of the dear friend who gave me this orchid. ;)   Elizabeth (my friend) and I have been friends way back when acne products were the least of our worries.  That would be grade school.  We lost touch for a very long time, say, 19 years and hooked up again here in the great state of TX.  It’s a small world after all.  Cheers to friendship!  Cheers to birthdays!  Cheers to gifts! :)

It’s just me.  Hee hee.  I didn’t realize I haven’t updated this site since July 8th.  In blog years (as in dog years) that’s a long time! Haha!  My family has been very busy the past couple of weeks (since my little girl started summer vacation) and we’ll just continue to be busy until school starts again in late August.

Here are a few snapshots of my little girl one hot summer afternoon…

Still every bit as pretty in spite of being sticky and sweaty. :)

One, two, three…blow!

Sing to the tune of “If You’re Happy and You Know It”: “There are bubbles in the air, in the air.  There are bubbles in the air, in the air.  There are bubbles in the air, there are bubbles in your hair, there are bubbles in the air, in the air.“  (I learned this from Gymboree.  :D )

These were taken after her tennis lessons.  It’s so nice to be a kid….a 4-year old turning 5 kid, when big words and problems such as mesothelioma are pretty much alien!  Her biggest worries are what to watch next on tv, which toys to play with, what she’s going to eat, etc.

It’s a weekend again and it’s going to be a very long one for us.  Yeah!  Have a great one, y’all! Cheers!

That wasn’t a typo.  :)   The community where we live always holds a fireworks display on the eve of the 4th of July.  I just love and never tire of watching fireworks.  I think they’re the most fascinating outdoor lighting, if they can be considered as such.

The fireworks lasted for about 30 minutes, more or less.  Here’s a slideshow of the most decent photos I was able to take that night.  Cheers!

On June 20th, my little girl bid good-bye to pre-school.  In a little over a month, she starts kindergarten.  The photo above is her formal graduation portrait.  I love the red toga, the red cap, everything! :)   The Little Munchkin donned this toga on her graduation day, too.  So cute, I tell you!  You’d think she and her classmates graduated from college. Hee hee! :)   Whatever the future holds for my little girl, be it a healthcare career, or one in the arts (architecture?), engineering or other sciences, my only wish is that she be the best that she can be. Oh, how she’s grown! *sigh*

(The following photos were taken during a short vacation in Dallas last March.  We would have wanted to go on one of those Orlando vacations, but… The last time we were at the West End Dristrict in Downtown Dallas, this area of the Founders Plaza was still under construction.)

(To say that Abby loved this spot is an understatement.  She went crazy running around and jumping over the waterjets!)

(She got the idea to jump over the water fountains as if they were hurdles was no other than her dad.  Abby saw him jump over them! :D )

(Abby had perfect timing, at least, for most of her jumps except one…)

Bahagyang nabasa ang kaniyang shorts.  Hee hee. :)

(Wet shorts!  All we could do was laugh at the incident. :) )
