Over the weekend, I started a new hobby….loom knitting.  It was inevitable because I received a set of long looms from one of my gal pals as a birthday present.  After a little over a month, I finally got around to opening the box, taking out a loom (the shortest one) and venturing into the unknown.  Haha!

Want to see what I’ve knitted so far?  Well, you haven’t got a choice really. :)

Neat Knit #1:  A scarf for my little girl

Neat Knit #2:  Something that looks like a belt…again for my little girl :P

Neat Knit #3:  Another scarf for my little girl

I have to say, I like loom knitting!  And once I got started on a “project”, it was awfully hard to put the loom and yarn down!  There goes my plan of hitting the treadmills at the gym started this week. Ugh!

I’m excited to try my hand at more ambitious knitting projects.  Come fall and winter, we’ll have a ton of scarves and shawls to speak of. *cross fingers*  Ha! :D

You read it right…nappy cake, as in cake made of diapers…

How’s that for a cake that is sugar, fat and calorie free?!  This will definitely not affect whatever kind of diet supplements one is taking. Hee hee. :)   This is my first try at making a nappy/diaper cake.  I made this about two weeks ago for a friend’s baby shower, which, unfortunately, I was not able to attend.

I had loads of fun making this!  It took me about three hours to finish it and mind you, I did it at a leisurely pace.  I took my time meticulously rolling each and every one of the 50 nappies.  Adding the accents was doubly fun!  In addition to the 50 diapers, I used sock and wrist rattles, travel-sized bath essentials, baby spoons and for the topper, a stuffed bug, which is also a rattle.

If and when I’m invited to another baby shower, the mom-to-be will most likely receive this inedibly yummy cake. ;)

Last week, my little girl celebrated her 5th birthday.  Five.   Definitely no longer a baby (at least, that’s what she says!) and definitely still too young to be worrying about cheap term life insurance rates .   In fact, she could have planned her birthday party on her own.  She knew what kind of party she wanted.  She practically dictated upon me how her birthday cake should look like!  But nah.  She is and will always be my baby. Enough said. ;)

Well, not really around town but around the beach…

I don’t know who among my friends owns this pair of flip-flops but I do know which Shoe Store this nice pair are from.  And I bet you can tell, too! ;)   Hee hee.  Ditching footwear at this beach was the most natural thing to do.  How can one not opt to go barefoot when the sand is so powdery soft?  Even the most obsessive-compulsive of neat freaks will want to feel the sand beneath their feet!  It’s something we don’t get to do very often after all. ;)

Now wasn’t that poetic?  Haha!  I can’t help it, not when I see this photo taken on the night of August 2nd…

Life, for us, was a BEACH from August 2nd to the 5th.  Technically, it was just from the the 2nd to the 4th because we didn’t set foot on the beach anymore on the 5th. :P

We can now add Port Aransas to our list of favorite Texas cities.  Our days there with our friends were just pure blissful fun.  No dull moments, I tell you!  The only minor glitches were during check-in at our hotel (a first with Hampton!) and at check out (something about the receipt printer working improperly).

I have a ton of photos to share.  The question is when I can post them.  Hee hee. :P
