Have you ever been roused from happy slumber at an ungodly hour because you thought you heard voices?  Well, don’t look now, but you might have heard voices after all.  Where were they coming from?  From the very thing you were laying your sleepy head on…your pillow!  Specifically, from the teeny tiny uninvited creatures that have made your pillow their home!  Dust mites!  Dangerous bacteria!  Fungus!  This is your cue to say “Eeeeew!”

You don’t have to take my word for it.  Here, watch and listen to an expert:

Now, do you believe me?  The video did freak me out a little and almost had me buying allergy pillows that very moment!  However, the price of allergy pillows freaked me out almost as much as finding out that my pillow was a breeding ground for dust mites!

After I’ve recovered from the initial shock of finding out how much a Healthy Dream Germ Fighting Pillow costs, I was able to think more objectively.  Come to think of it, it’s a most worthy investment.  You won’t have to worry about resting your head on mite/bacteria/mold/dust infested pillows again.  The sad truth is, mold, bacteria and dust mites begin growing in our pillows as soon as we start using them. Over time, the problem just gets worse!   Because as we sleep, we breathe moisture into our pillows.

I guess I have no choice but to buy our way to peaceful and healthy slumber, even if it’s just one pillow at a time.  I’ll start with my daughter’s pillows.  And until all our pillows have been replaced, I’ll be sure to wash our beddings once a week at the very least. *sigh*

For more or less two weeks in January, the Wii Fit was my exercise companion.  Embarrassing as it is to admit, I’ve been living a sedentary life the past three years or so.  To get my body used to “moving” more again, I thought the Wii Fit was a good place to start.  And it was.  I’ve since moved on to more challenging and calorie torching alternatives, but the treadmill isn’t one of them.  I’m proud to say that not a day goes by without me doing any form of exercise.  Three cheers for me! ;)

We got to make snowmen when it snowed in Austin some two weeks ago….

So they’re tiny, hee hee.   We could have made bigger ones but that would mean disturbing the tiny patches of land fronting the homes of our neighbors.  They might not have wanted that.  Soft balls of ice like these one are a welcome change to the golf-ball to base-ball sized hail that came down from the heavens last year.  I can just imagine the rise in demand for auto insurance quotes after that hailstorm!  Yes to a day of snow.  No to even a few seconds of rock-hard hail!

On February 23rd, neither new nor  used golf balls were flying over this golf course.  The reason is quite obvious…miracles or all miracles, it snowed in Austin! :)   We’ve been living in Austin for a few years now and this was the first time we’ve ever seen this much snow.  It was snowing the entire day and we loved it, my 5 year old most specially.  It will probably take a couple of years before it snows this much again.  Although, I certainly hope not. :)   Just one fine day of snow is all we ask…for the little kids to make their snowmen…and for us kids at heart. ;)
