We were in Irving, TX on the the first day of Spring.  That night, it snowed.  I was thrilled for my brother-in-law who got to experience snow for the first time.  My little girl was excited as well as most children get when they see snow. The following morning, it didn’t come as a surprise when we saw the cars in the hotel parking lot looking like this…

Snow we can handle.  But hail? No thank you. The last hail episode in Austin, I’m guessing, got a lot of people buying affordable car insurance.  Because really, who wants to drive around in a bedimpled car? :)

Two weeks ago, my little girl surprised me when she brought home this book from the library…

Whoa, ” Draw 50 Buildings and Other Structures”!  She said she wanted to practice drawing buildings so she can be an architect just like her mommy. Awww. :)   The book contains step by step illustrations on how to draw famous buildings/structures, from the Empire State Building to the Taj Mahal, palaces and I think a few glass and metal buildings.  For now, my daughter is pretty sure she wants to be an architect, kinda like I was so sure I was going to be a doctor when I was her age. :)

That’s the English translation of Visita Iglesia, a Holy Week tradition that my family continues to observe to this day.  On Holy Thursday, we visited 6 churches after hearing the 7pm Mass of the Lord’s Supper.  Traditionally, 7 churches are visited, but given that we are in a country that isn’t largely Catholic, 6 churches out of 7 isn’t bad at all.

One of the churches we visited was St. Margaret Mary…

It’s beautiful, isn’t it?  That you can clearly see, with or without discount prescription glasses.

Easter is almost here.  And we are all excited! :)

Thanks to a dear friend, I was able to attend a special class on Flowers and Lace Points during the That Takes the Cake Sugar Art and Cake Show held in February.  This is me with my teacher, Chef Steven Stellingwerf…

It’s not everyday that I get to attend a class conducted by sugar artists of Chef Stellingwerf’s caliber.  He has authored two books!  This photo, along with the thousands more of memorable photos on my hard drive, are very well worth performing an online backup. ;)

How was your April first?  Did you play pranks on anybody? I don’t think I’ll ever be able to pull off even a passable April Fools prank.  Well, maybe I can, because I was able to pull off a surprise party for my Mom 3 months ago.  I did almost call up a friend ready to make up a story that I’ve accepted a job to sell health insurance in NC.  Just how lame was that?  I decided to just scratch the idea.  Hee hee.

It did feel like April Fools when my daughter came home looking like a puppy on the 101st day of school.  I sent her to school in a black and white ensemble and she came home looking like an adorable dalmatian.

Arf! Arf!
