I’ve been designing cakes for over a year now, a year-and-a-half to be exact. But it wasn’t until last Saturday, when I mustered the courage to mold a character cake topper out of fondant. Embarrassing as it is to admit, I usually just buy cake toppers to save me a lot of trouble, not to mention heartache. Hee hee. But there is always a first time and I’m glad I finally got to have a feel for fondant sculpting even if it were just a very small scale.

Meet Pikachu, one of the more famous Pokemon characters. He does look like his mommy must have taken prenexa while pregnant with him (her?) as I may have made a Pikachu that’s a tad too heavy. I am pleased nevertheless! And I look forward to making more cake toppers out of fondant in the very near future.
We’re staying put this summer, reserving more exciting travel (outside of Texas, that is!) for the latter part of the year. Nevertheless, we are enjoying and loving every bit of our STAYCATION. I love that every now and then, we get wonderful surprises from Mother Nature herself! Take this beautiful sight for example…

Well, hello, sunset! How’s that for an outdoor fireplace? I took this photos using hubby’s I-phone while driving home. And we didn’t even have to spend a penny for this wonderful treat!
Cheers!

Look who’s showing off her polished and beglittered nails! Yes, my 5-year old ex-kindergartener!

It’s no secret that I don’t let her play with make-up and nail polish. Call me old fashioned or the ultimate killer of little girls’ joys but that’s just the rule. You can just imagine how ecstatic my little girl was when we were invited to a Hollywood-themed birthday party.
She got to have her hair done, her face made-up and her nails polished. After all the “works”, the little girls all got to strut down a red carpet. So for a few hours, my little girl didn’t feel deprived. Hee hee.
It was a fun party and I ate so much! Not good! Hgh pills are sounding good to me right now. Not!!!
Enjoy what’s left of the weekend, y’all!
Now more than ever, we try to go on family playdates outdoors as often as we can. We usually go to the nearby sports park where hubby and I can run safely while our 5-year old daughter rides her bike.

The highlight of these outdoor playdates, as far as my daughter is concerned, is the time she gets to play in the playscape. Experts say that children should have at least an hour of active play time, which is exercise in disguise.
This early, we’re already teaching our daughter the importance of exercise and healthy eating. Hopefully, when she’s older, she wouldn’t have to look for effective abs workout dvds (which I’m always guilty of!) as she will already have a healthy and fit body.

If my running shoes can talk, that’s exactly what they would be saying.

As you can see, they are in dire need of washing.
The funning thing is, I’ve had them for more than a year and for the longest time but I seldom wore them…until recently. I managed to get them this dirty only in the last 5 months or so when I started exercising again regularly. That includes some short runs several times a week. I’m on my way to forging one of my personal best weight loss stories ever. And I couldn’t be happier! Yay me!
