I’m quite sure you’ve heard (and probably even tasted!) of shark’s fin soup or shark’s fin dumplings, but shark’s fin cupcakes?  Have you ever had any?  Hee hee.

I made these for my daughter’s advance birthday celebration in school today.  These were meant for the boys as I had prepared cupcakes decorated with flowers for the girls.

I do like how these turned out.  And mind you, these are the most harmless sharks you’ll encounter so there’s no need to call your insurance agents for a insurance quote.  Hahaha!

Cheers!

My daughter’s birthday is still two months away but because hers is a summer birthday, she got to celebrate it with her classmates in advance in school today.  She and another classmate, are the only ones who have yet to turn a year older.  They had a joint cupcake party today.

For the girls, I decorated the cupcakes with colorful, summer-y flowers.  For the boys, I made simple shark-themed cupcakes.

I had a bit of a problem making the french buttercream (frosting).  The heat made it difficult for the buttercream to form and become stiff.  It was quite stressful, I must say, as I was pressed for time.  I was afraid I’ll need wrinkle cream by the time I was done.

Everything turned out well in the end.  Whew!

I bet you don’t know what a “liyin” is.  According to my daughter, if I were an animal, I would be a “liyin” because I run fast…

Get it now?  By “liyin”, my daughter meant “lion”.  Don’t laugh if you don’t want used golf balls to be flying your way!  Hahaha!  You know how little kids are taught to spell as they pronounce or sound out the letters/syllables of a word.  I did ask her about the stripes.  I told her lions don’t have stripes.  She simply answered with her biggest, sweetest smile.  Liyin…that’s me.  Roarrrrr! ;)

I wouldn’t have known how fun it is to decorate cupcakes with a glass of wine in the wings had not mommy friends of mine invited me to an impromptu cupcake soiree.  We didn’t drink a whole lot, really.  Just a few sips here and there.  We were decorating jungle-themed cupcakes and I, for one, was afraid that if I took one sip too many, I might end up mistaking piping bags for barcode scanners.  I do a fair amount of cake decorating and it looks like I’m going to have to make sure I always have a glass of sweet white wine to keep me inspired.  Hee hee.  Cheers!

Mudbug/s is just one other name for crawfish.  Then again, there crawfish may also be referred to as crayfish.  Why all this mudbug talk?  For the simple reason that I still have a crawfish hangover, from the crawfeast (crawfish feast) hosted by our friends over the Memorial Weekend.

It may look harmless but it’s pincers are gonna click here and there so watch your fingers!

We had a wonderful time feasting on the cajun-spiced mudbugs…and the sides…and the desserts.  We’re already looking forward to next year’s craw fish bash. ;)

Cheers!
