Funnel Cakes used to be only an occasional treat for us because we seem to only find them at theme parks or festivals.  Well, not anymore!  We like it so much that it’s just not right to wait for the next theme park visit before we can enjoy these deep fried goodies.  So I learned how to make them!  Since December 2009, I’ve made funnel cakes for my husband and daughter twice….for breakfast!  The last time I made some, which was two weeks ago, I topped them with fresh strawberry slices!

I realize we still can’t indulge too often unless I want to end up reading fat burner reviews. Hee hee!   Because really, after one too many funnel cakes, I’m afraid I’ll end up in my “old shape” once again.  I sure don’t want that to happen! Not when I’m too close to achieving my goal! ;)

In a few weeks, our in-house princess will be turning six.  Just a while ago, I was looking randomly at pictures from two and three years ago.  My little girl was practically still a baby then!  Looking at those pictures, I realized all the more the importance of making beautiful memories with her as much as humanly possible.  Time flies fast…too fast!  And I hope hubby and I can make memories with our daughter that we all can hold on and look back to with fondness.

My little girl wants a computer of her own for her birthday.  She was smart enough to trade a party somewhere other than our house for a present that is really useful. :) Hopefully, I’ll find a nice little notebook as attractively priced as wholesale computers:D

I celebrated my birthday last Saturday, birthday number three-five. :)   I made myself a birthday cake on Friday night.  I make birthday cakes for friends and children of friends so I thought, I ought to be night to myself, too and make myself a birthday cake.  :)

I made a Mocha Cake with Italian Meringue Mocha Buttercream and opted for a very simple cake decoration.  Come to think of it, I have yet to make a fondant covered birthday cake for my immediate family!  That’ll have to change soon! Anyway, at least, for my cake, the decorations were fondant.  I actually had a more elaborate design in mind, but ditched the idea for one that was stress-free to make. I also didn’t want to stay up too late and risk looking like I desperately need the best acne treatments on my birthday!

It was a yummy cake.  You can even ask hubby and my daughter! Hee hee. :)

Cheers to birthdays! :)

My daughter and I went on an impromptu date, just the two of us, last Tuesday.  We watched Despicable Me at the Gold Class Cinemas as a post birthday treat for me.  Birthday celebrants get to have buy-one, get-one movie tickets, 3 days before or 3 days after their birthday between Monday and Thursday at the Gold Class Cinemas.  We took advantage of that deal plus the fact that on Tuesdays, theater chow are at a discount.

We enjoyed the movie, but I personally like Toy Story 3 more.

After the movies, my girl and I went window shopping for a while, until I snagged a very attractively priced pair of shoes. *winnk*  I love the Domain 2, because believe it or not, the shops there have stuff people can actually afford.  Some shops even have blac label clothing.

Til’ our next girls’ day out, Cheers! :)

If you have a sweet tooth and  are currently on a quick weight loss mission, then you are most likely going to hate me when you see the collage that goes with this entry.  You’ve been forewarned! :)

Just some of the dessert selection at Dulces

On Father’s Day, we enjoyed a most wonderful brunch buffet at Dulces, a newly opened restaurant at the Lakeline Mall.  As if the promise of up-scale Mexican fare was not enough, guests are welcomed into the restaurant by a carefully, not to mention, gorgeously, laid-out dessert table.  Now that’s enough of a lure for me to try a new restaurant!

Of all the buffets we’ve been to, mostly mediocre Chinese buffets, save for our favorite Italian buffet restaurant, Cannoli Joe’s, Dulces, by far, has the most attractive dessert table and selection.  It’s not very often that cakes are in single-serve portions, and not in tiny 2 inch x 2 inch slices.

But when we come back to Dulces for their brunch buffet, it will not be for the dessert but for the grilled meat and open bar. :)

Cheers!
