Now here’s someone who does not need a NC short term health insurance (or does he?)…Spiderman! *wink*

I made this 2-tiered cake for the first birthday of a friend’s son.  I had so much fun making it.  After all, it is my first super hero cake!  I did encounter a few problems while making it, but, thank goodness, I was able to hide ‘em. Hee hee.   Red, yellow and blue is quite a generic color palette, as far as super heroes are concerned.  It could work just as well with  a Superman and Wonder Woman themed cakes.

What could be my next superhero cake?  Your guess is as good as mine. :)

Mabuhay!

Hubby had this for dinner during a recent business trip…

It’s a 26 oz. T-Bone steak…medium well.  He’s still having sweet dreams about it upto now.  I say he very well deserved every ounce of this steak.  He has been doing a very good job keeping to a healthy diet that he can indulge in meals like this occasionally, specially when it’s free!  *wink*  He sent me this picture via email.  If only joining hubby for that meal were as easy as having to just click here:)

Here’s a sample of a typical “homemade lunchable/s” that I prepare for my first grader…

It’s my fourth year packing lunches for my girl.  But I must say, I’ve come quite a long way.  During the first year or so, I used to rely heavily on frozen, overly processed, just-reheat-in-the-microwave-or-oven type of food: chicken nuggets, fish sticks and store-bought dimsum.  As I slowly settled in my role as domestic goddess, I learned to make a lot of stuff from scratch and was even surprised at how easy a lot of them are to make.

I don’t see making lunches for my daughter as a chore.  I actually love doing it.  Besides, like I always say, I don’t have an excuse not to.  A lot of times I’m tempted to make hubby and me, lunches that resemble my daughter’s, you know, in cute little containers.  That’s major portion control if you ask me and will keep me from having to browse for weight loss pill reviews, not that I ever had the need to. *wink*

Cheers!

My daughter and I go on a lot of impromptu dates.  They’re not very elaborate, really.  This summer, we went to the community pool a couple of times, just she and I.  Sometimes we’re at McDonald’s.  Other times we’re at the neighborhood yogurt shoppe.  Sometimes, we’re at Quiznos (the way to go if you want to how to lose weight fast). I really do believe parents should spend some time with their kids in a special way.  But you know that already. :)

“Show me, show me, show me, show what you’ve got. Come on, come on, come on, come on, ready or not….It’s on, it’s on, it’s on.”

My daughter loves movies with a lot of singing and dancing…from the timeless classic The Sound of Music to the very current Camp Rock 2 – The Final Jam.

Incidentally, Camp Rock 2 is still in our DVR and my first grader has seen it about 3 times.  Between you and me, I’m currently LSS-ing on Nick Jonas’ “Introducing Me”.  Hee hee.   It’s always fun for me to see my daughter dance and sing along with the characters in the movie.  Never mind if she’s singing mostly made up lyrics.  Hee hee.  I live for such moments because before I know it, she’ll be herself a teenager and rummaging through my bathroom and  asking questions like “Where can I find acne treatments here?”  Hee hee. :)
