After a very very long time, I baked some cookies a little over a week ago: Hershey’s Perfectly Chocolate Chocolate Chip Cookies. I got the recipe from my favorite Hershey’s recipe book. My daughter had a craving for chocolate chip cookies and because I was too lazy to go to the the store to buy some, I decided to just take matters into my own hands and just bake the cookies myself. You can find the recipe HERE.
I’m glad I satisfied my daughter’s craving for cookies. It was a welcome break from our daily summer routine of swim lessons in the morning and 30 or so minutes of homework in the afternoon. You read that right! My daughter might be on summer break from school but that doesn’t mean she should stop learning.
For the summer, I’m her full time home teacher, teaching degree or no teaching degree!
Cheers, y’all! Have a great week ahead!

That wasn’t a typo! It’s really Swan (well, swans!) Cake and not Swan Lake.
I made a 10th wedding anniversary cake for a dear couple friend of mine. I got the inspiration from their original wedding cake, the photo of which I still haven’t scanned up to now!

I encountered a few hiccups while making the swans. Thankfully, everything came together and didn’t look bad at all. You can read more about this cake HERE.
It’s been over three weeks since I last worked with fondant. It’ll be one heck of an arm workout when I do! If only my arms would get toned from all the kneading and rolling involved in cake decorating with fondant. Well who knows?! I just might not have to buy testoripped! (As if I really would!
)
Cheers, y’all!
My daughter’s class had a luau-themed year-end party. I brought cupcakes which I thought to be apt for the theme. I came up with two designs – one, which I hoped would appeal to the girls and one, which I hoped would appeal to the boys.
These were the cupcakes for the girls…

I like how the colors came out, although I wanted the frosting to be a more obvious blue. Haha!
These were the cupcakes for the boys…

The sufboards got soft because of the heat of a nearby lamp and besides, they didn’t really have enough time to dry and harden. I made them just a few hours before the party! Talk about poor time management (perhaps I’m better at document management?)
Anyway, the kids loved the cupcakes…as always. They’re sweet like that.
Cheers!
If I haven’t been updating this site, it’s definitely not because I’m having network cable wiring problems! Haha! My other personal blog is suffering worse neglect. But, hopefully, before the new school year starts in August, it’ll have a fresh breath of life.
We had a house guest – a very dear friend of ours – the first few days of June. He’s been to the US several times but it’s his first time in Austin and our first time to get together after 4 years! It’s sort of SOP to bring guests of ours to Downtown Austin to visit the State Capitol. Where else can we go without having to driver for ore than an hour?! Haha!

We had to make do with the IPhone for photo ops. The nicer camera was left and forgotten in the garage. *sigh* It’s been over a year since we last visited the Texas State Capitol. The biggest and most noticeable change is that everyone now goes through security check, when before, everyone just came and went as they pleased. Better safe than sorry, I guess.
Anyway, I love going to the Texas State Capitol. Every visit always seems like a first to me. ‘We’ll be back, when the next house guest comes along! Haha!
Mabuhay!

We had a “play date” with friends of ours very early in the evening yesterday. Thanks to a Groupon deal that my gal pal was able to snag, we got to cruise on the Lady Bird Lake in a nice 10-12 seater boat. I have yet to download the photos from my camera, which should explain the photo-less entry.
The little girls had the most fun…and so did the dads who literally became captains of their (rented) ship. It’s really just a boat and not a ship!
This kids had a wonderful wonderful time. I wonder if they will find riding in a child-appropriate ATV and tinkering with ATV Accessoriesto be as much fun. Well, we parents will probably just stick to doing fun activities that we are very much familiar with.
Cheers, y’all!
