Finally, a few minutes for me to come up for air! *inhales* *exhales* I’ve been crazy busy the last couple of weeks, more so last week and this week! I’ve been doing some last minute shopping for presents and whatnot. I did snag a few good deals online, which saved me a couple of trips to the mall. Shipping was free, too! A couple of presents will be delivered straight to the recipients. Cool, ei? Deals seems to be getting better and better as Christmas draws near. Stores (maybe even cigar auction sites!) are fighting over you and me and whatever’s still left in our wallets! Hahaha! I am just about done…almost! Then again, there’s still some great deals to be had after Christmas. Hee hee. *wink*
Cheers, y’all!

Summer break will officially come to an end on Sunday. Monday, August 22nd, marks the start of the new school year. My, summer went by so quickly! This is our 5th summer in the US and compared to the first 4, this was the busiest by far! I was so busy I rarely had time to play with our 2-month old favorite new toy, the xbox kinect! But I did find time to snag some very good deals on school supplies whenever there were deals to be snagged like these ones…

I only paid a penny for each for the wooden rulers and the crayons. The pencils were a dime per pack of 10. How else can you beat that price?! Come now, don’t think I’m hoarding school supplies. I’m planning on donating most of these where they are most needed. I’ll just keep maybe 2 of each.
We’re making the most of the last days of summer break. And what better way to end the long hot summer than with a Tax Free Shopping Weekend! Yeehaw!
Cheers, y’all!

If I haven’t been updating this site, it’s definitely not because I’m having network cable wiring problems! Haha! My other personal blog is suffering worse neglect. But, hopefully, before the new school year starts in August, it’ll have a fresh breath of life.
We had a house guest – a very dear friend of ours – the first few days of June. He’s been to the US several times but it’s his first time in Austin and our first time to get together after 4 years! It’s sort of SOP to bring guests of ours to Downtown Austin to visit the State Capitol. Where else can we go without having to driver for ore than an hour?! Haha!

We had to make do with the IPhone for photo ops. The nicer camera was left and forgotten in the garage. *sigh* It’s been over a year since we last visited the Texas State Capitol. The biggest and most noticeable change is that everyone now goes through security check, when before, everyone just came and went as they pleased. Better safe than sorry, I guess.
Anyway, I love going to the Texas State Capitol. Every visit always seems like a first to me. ‘We’ll be back, when the next house guest comes along! Haha!
Mabuhay!

The warmer weather, which will just keep getting warmer and warmer, has gotten me thinking back to that one day in February when we woke up to a morning where everything was covered in a blanket of snow. That’s quite unusual here in Austin, so you can just imagine our excitement. Hopefully, we’ll get a chance for some real revelry in the snow, when – God willing – we visit our friends who recently moved to Calgary. We also found out just last week that our California-based friends are moving to Calgary as well some time in the summer! What is it with Calgary, I wonder? Anyway, we’ll give them all a chance to get really settled first and get their meetings with calgary mortgage brokers (that’s if they need to apply for mortgage at all!) out of the way before we come knocking at their doors. Hee hee.

Sorbetes (Filipino ice cream, usually made with coconut milk) Season, that is, summer, is just around the corner. Actually, I think it has already arrived in Austin.
It’s going to be another staycation season for us as we don’t have any plans of leaving the great state of Texas, unless we win the lottery. Hee hee. We might spend some weekends at our favorite nearby citiees – San Antonio, Houston or Dallas. We’re considering looking into some hitch bike racks so we can bring my daughter’s bike when we go on our weekend trips. We’ll see how it goes. Surely, she can survive one weekend without her bike. Hee!
