This is the Arch of the Centuries of the University of Santo Tomas.  To be honest, back in the day when I was a student in UST – 4 years of high school and 5 years of college – I didn’t really pay much attention to this landmark except for the time when we were required to sketch it for  Visual Techniques class.  But when I revisited my alma mater during our Philippine holiday, I couldn’t take enough pictures of the Arch of the Centuries.  After doing a little bit of research, I found out that there’s a new tradition now being observed in UST where freshmen and graduating students walk under the arch – to welcome the freshmen and to send the graduating students (who I’m sure got plenty of career advice) off. I wish we had that tradition back then.  That would have been sweet. :)

One of the highlights of our vacation in the Philippines was a short but nevertheless sweet visit to hubby’s and my alma mater…The Pontifical and Royal University of Santo Tomas (UST), which turned 400 years old this year. We took as many photos as we possibly can in the two hours that we were on campus grounds.  Two hours proved to be too short though.  Still, those two hours brought back happy memories of the years we spent in the University.  I still need acne scar treatment for all the sleepless nights during my college days! Hee hee.  Hubby and I sure are glad to have been home in the year our alma mater celebrated a milestone birthday. What great blessing!

This is how a garage door opener looked like in the olden times…

Seriously now,  I took this photo at Villa Angela where we spent the night when we visited the lovely city of Vigan in Ilocos Sur.  During our visit to the Philippines over the holidays, we finally fulfilled a long-time dream of driving all the way to Pagudpud in Ilocos Norte from Manila. It is an experience that is definitely something new to us.  I immediately fell in love with something old, Vigan. :) It is just plain charming, specially Calle Ibarra, the cobble-stoned street that seems to take one back in time. Charming!

I would very much love to come and visit Ilocos again, at a much leisurely pace.*wink*

Mabuhay!

This is one of my favorite pics of Hubby and my little girl, taken in December 2007.  It is one of three photos I posted on my very first entry on this blog (back in the day when I was just starting to learn the ropes of self hosting and free directory submission.) Fast forward to today, Hubby is still able to wear this jacket in the colder months.  My little girl’s jacket, however, has already found a new user.  Hee hee. ;)   If only time would slow down just a tad. *sigh*

I need a nice bathroom.  Whenever we go out of town, one of my requirements, in addition to proximity to the town center and wifi connection  is a nice bathroom.  I can live without free breakfast but please, get me a more than decent bathroom. It is  the first thing I check whenever we check into a hotel.  Hee hee. :D In the Philippines, the Shangri-la Makati, Shangri-la Mactan and the Mandarin Oriental have what I consider to be the ideal standard bathrooms.

When we went to California in July last year, my cousin whisked us away to Mammoth and treated us to two glorious night at The Westin Monache Resort.  We stayed at a two-bedroom suite with a living and dining area, kitchen and the view, might I add, was just beautiful.  And the bathrooms were more than I could ask for…

The master bath was practically another room in itself.  I can’t complain about the shiny bathroom accessories. :)

This is the second bathroom…

It is just a third of the size of the master bath but still pretty if you ask me.  I wonder if  these are kudos showers in both bathrooms.  Probably not.

What’s your fetish?
