It was love at first sight…and touch…and read.  My reading list continues to get longer.  I can’t wait to do a lot more reading when school’s finally out for the summer.  It’ll be hard to tell where the futon covers end and I start.  Hee hee.  More good times!

So they’re made out of gumpaste, but I sure don’t mind!  Hee hee.  I was requested to make this cake as a surprise present to the milestone birthday celebrant (whom I don’t know personally).  The fabulous birthday girl happens to love anything “designer” so I thought this would make the perfect theme for her.  The gift giver loved the cake, which made more doubly happy.

I hope all this “practice” I’m getting baking and decorating cakes for friends leads to a successful future cake shop complete with store front complete with small business phone system and a coffee shop area. That will truly be a dream come true.

Do any of the above mini cakes look the least bit familiar?  Please say they do!  These were so much fun to make!  All that’s missing are disney jewelry and these headless princesses are ready for a ball. Haha!  I made these mini cakes for use in a 3rd birthday princess cake ensemble.  The birthday girl loved the mini princess dresses and had no plans whatsoever of sharing them with anybody.  I wouldn’t!  Read more about these mini cakes HERE.

I was happy to see this young trees at the University of Santo Tomas “greenbelt”.  The narra tree is the Philippines’ national tree.  It is a hardwood and a much-coveted material for furniture making and house building many years ago.  It is now illegal to cut-down and truck the narra tree as the Philippines no longer enjoy a plentiful supply of the tree, no thanks to illegal logging.  It’s almost as rare as a  Black Diamond Engagement Ring…but I could be wrong.

It’s not everyday that I get to attend a class conducted by sugar artists of Chef Stellingwerf’s caliber.  He has authored two books!  This photo, along with the thousands more of memorable photos on my hard drive, are very well worth performing an online backup.

She’s been keeping a reasonably busy summer schedule.  And she’s going to learn a few sports this year.  She seems to like ice skating and tennis and soon, swimming will enter the picture.  I learned to swim when I was already 9.  My daughter hopes to learn to swim before she turns 5.  With her determination, I have no doubt she will.  I hope she keeps up this love for sports and be fit and healthy.  I honestly don’t see my daughter reading liporexall reviews in the future.

At $12.99 for the four vases (they were sold as a group), I doubt if these tulips were from Holland.  If they were, there must have been some major conversion rate optimization that went on. Wherever the bulbs came from, they all gave me such beautiful flowers to look at.  Four varieties of tulips!

This is my first post for this blog for 2009.  On behalf of my family, I wish you all a Happy and Prosperous New Year!  We wish you an overflowing of God’s blessings all the days of 2009.  May the warmth of love be with your family always.

Anything Hannah Montana is bound to bring a smile on a little girl’s face, my daughter included…

She loved this shirt, which she got as a present from one of our friends.

There’s a plethora of Hannah Montana thingamajigs everywhere you look.  Disney is really milking the Hannah Montana franchise for all it’s got: pencils, notebooks, bags, shirts, jackets, everything!  Will they do a Hello Kitty and have Hannah Montana toasters, clocks and personal dispensers as well?  Your guess is as good as mine.

The moon was at its most beautiful last Friday and I made sure I captured it on camera.  I’ve always wanted to take photos of the moon but I’m usually inside the car and couldn’t take a decent photo.  This time around, I asked Hubby to park for a few minutes at the commercial complex very near our home.

I took lots of photos and I’d like to share some of them with you.  That night, the roof of our car served as my tripod.  Hee hee.

It was a cloudy night and I’m glad I had a perfectly clear view of the moon.  But it didn’t take long for the clouds to cover the moon.

This is the cue for the wolves to start howling.  Hee hee.

This was probably one of the rare times that I wished I had a more powerful camera and a more powerful zoom.  I used my trusty full featured P&S camera to take these shots.

Next time you have the itch to take moon shots, pull over for a few minutes and park legally. It’s safer that way.  Your  car insurance provider will thank you for it. Haha!
