I remember having a silly conversation with hubby a while back about future beauty concerns.  I teasingly made him promise that when I’m older, he is to take care of the treatments I might need so I will still look “decent” as I age.  I was thinking along the lines of dermatologist visits and maybe botox.  Hee hee.  And in return, I will be behind him one hundred percent should he need hair treatments, say hair weave or hair transplant, that will allow him to keep a healthy, well, head.  Fair deal, don’t you think?  Well, as I said, we were just being silly.  But if we do have the means in the future, why not?  Just nothing too drastic. :D

And speaking of hair transplants, do you have a clue on the pricing of a hair transplant procedure? I hear that on the average, the range is from $2500 to $9000. That depends, of course, on a person’s hair loss situation and realistic expectations.  But if it were to be believed that some tend to spend $10,000.00 a year on non-surgical procedures like potions, hair weaves and the like, it’s no wonder people find the idea of a hair transplant attractive.

Oh well, I hope we won’t have to worry about these things anytime soon.  :)

While a lot of people are at wit’s end trying to figure out how to get their holiday shopping started or how to be done with it before Christmas, there are people who have problems that are far worse. I’m referring to the people of Payatas.

Payatas is the biggest landfill in the Philippines and has been in existence for 35 years. I’m quite sure you’ve heard of it. People -children and adults alike- work by scavenging through mountains of trash hoping to make enough to buy food for the day. The conditions are beyond deplorable. Instead of going to school, children as young as four years old, find themselves digging through all the mountains of trash to help the family get through the day.

Fortunately, Totedaddy.com and Lighthouse Center for Children Foundation organized a children’s charity initiative called Christmas For Payatas. In the Christmas for Payatas website, there is a youtube video which shows the harsh conditions people live in in Payatas.

The cause already has a number of prominent supporters from politicians to athletes and other celebrities. But you don’t have to be a prominent person to help. You, too can contribute and do your share in support of this worthy initiative. Giving, after all, is what Christmas is all about.

oOo

For more information, here’s the Christmas for Payatas press release:

The landfill in Payatas, The Philippines, is notoriously known the world over as Smokey Mountain. For over 35 years, the smoking dump site has grown to become a stark and heart-tugging reminder of the desperate onditions of humanity.

On a daily basis, children pick through newly arrived garbage to
collect material to sell. The earnings made by one child are not enough to even buy food for the day. Hence, entire families are forced to climb the mountain each day, hoping to earn enough to feed everyone. Children as young as four years old are forced to work in this daily struggle for survival.

In response to the plight of these children, Totedaddy.com is working with Lighthouse Center For Children Foundation to bring a little cheer to the children this Christmas.

Totedaddy.com has kicked off with a cash sponsorship of USD 10,000 to enable the children to celebrate Christmas. FusionExcel International has also pitched in a USD 5,000 in cash sponsorship. The money raised
will help fund the projects already in place, and help fund additional projects aimed at providing better housing, and a means of livelihood for the Payatas community.

It is hoped that by creating better awareness to the plight of these children, more support can be garnered towards their betterment. Together we can bury poverty!

In this day and age, seldom will we see passenger vehicles that are without air conditioning, and for very good reason.  Vehicles are like extensions of our homes and as such, we want to be as comfortable as possible when on the road.  It is awfully uncomfortable to drive when one is all sweaty.  Drivers also tend to be irritable and have a shorter fuse when hot.  Driving an AC less car in summer is like driving an oven.

If there’s a problem with your auto ac parts, check out discountACparts.com.  Don’t hold off replacing your ac compressor or whatever problem ac parts your vehicle might have for next Summer. At discountACparts.com, all compressors come with a full warranty and free shipping.  Whatever car you’re driving, they are sure to have the ac parts you need in stock.

Today, it’s exactly 12 years and one month since I had laser eye correction surgery on both of my eyes.  The exact date of the procedure was September 13, 1996.  Being able to see clearly without the aid of contacts and glasses was a dream I never really thought would come true.  I have my Mom to thank for my new eyes!  They aren’t so new anymore but they are still as perfect and as crystal clear as ever!

Joining the bandwagon of more than 12 million Americans who have dramatically improved their vision are  NASA and the US Military, thanks to laser vision correction technologies.   To improve the vision of specialized personnel facing extreme, physically demanding conditions, the Department of Defense (DOD) and NASA tapped an all-laser form of LASIK .

Only one laser is used in the earlier versions of LASIK.    But in the modern LASIK, better know as iLASIK, two lasers are used.  ILasik is a combination of advanced laser technologies which allows the creation of a custom-fit procedure clinically proven to provide excellent safety and visual results.

Results of the military’s evaluation of modern LASIK showed that in 100 military personnel, 95% achieved 20/20 uncorrected vision or better and 100% of naval aviators who have undergone the procedure would recommend the surgery to other naval aviators.

With more and more LASIK information available and LASIK technology continuing to improve, it is the as good a time as any to go after that dream of perfect (beyond perfect even!)

When we were still in the Philippines, we almost always hit the arcades every weekend.  Hubby, Abby and I all have Power Station cards.  We love the Power Station cards because during our birthdays, we get 200 bonus points as a birthday present!  Oh, and we have Time Zone cards as well. Our favorite companions, you might have guessed, are my brother and his family.  Abby adorers her cousins!

Those days, Abby was still too small to play with most of the games.  So where does that leave her?  In the kiddie rides, of course!  She wasn’t even a year old yet when she went on her first arcade ride.  And now, at the age of four, she loves ‘em even more!  Sometimes, she’s content to just sit on them even if they’re not moving!  Hee hee.

Here are some photos I was able to dig up of driver Abby. ;)

At Chuck E. Cheese’s yet again, on her 4th birthday - August 17, 2008

In about 14 years, Abby will hopefully already be driving a car of her own.  For now, she can enjoy these rides and drive with all her might without having to worry about auto insurance.

Ahhh, true love.  They say we have a once in a lifetime chance to find it, or better yet, for it to find us.  Some are content to do just that…wait.  While some seem to be on a mission to find it!  The pressure sets in, when, one by one, friends find theirs.  It doesn’t help one’s case when those friends start getting married.  Do the words “always the bridesmaid” ring a bell?  How about “always the groomsman”?

I know some people who have gone through great lengths for that one shot at true love.  One even went so far as to have a nose job to increase her “marketability”. *wink*  Some have fallen victim to friends’ matchmaking schemes, gone to blind dates, and who knows what else?!  And then there are those who have found love online.  I wouldn’t have believed it were possible, but yes, I know couples who made their connection in cyberspace.

If you are one of those people who are open to the possibility of finding true love online then you just might want to check out True.com.  True.com is a dating and relationship service, which is endorsed by Psychology Today.  It is the only internet dating service, which conducts criminal background screening and Single Certification.  So there is a slim chance, if none at all, that you’ll end up being conned by a married man.  You can sign up and search for free!  You might just find mr. or miss right, right now.  Good luck!
